About The Position

Description Overview The Director of Infection Control provides enterprise-level leadership for the organization’s Infection Prevention and Control Program, ensuring regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) across the health system. This executive leader partners with clinical, operational, and medical staff leadership to drive evidence-based infection prevention strategies that protect patients, employees, and the community. Key Responsibilities Lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive infection prevention and control program across the health system. Ensure compliance with CDC guidance, CMS Conditions of Participation, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission. Serve as the system expert and executive consultant for infection prevention, outbreak management, and exposure mitigation. Oversee surveillance, data analysis, and reporting of HAIs using infection surveillance software and analytics tools. Lead outbreak investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans. Partner with executive leadership and quality committees to identify risk, drive performance improvement, and achieve sustained outcomes. Provide strategic oversight of PPE, sterilization, disinfection practices, and emerging technologies. Direct infection prevention education strategy for clinicians, leaders, and staff. Participate in emergency preparedness planning related to infectious disease threats and public health emergencies. Leadership & Governance Lead, mentor, and develop Infection Prevention staff. Establish departmental goals, staffing models, and performance expectations. Collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting, resource allocation, and long-term program sustainability. Lead accreditation readiness and regulatory survey response related to infection prevention. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field required, or equivalent experience Seven (7)+ years of progressive infection prevention experience may be considered in lieu of degree Master’s Degree preferred Minimum 3–5 years of infection prevention leadership experience Required : Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CBIC) within 24 months of hire. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field required, or equivalent experience
  • Seven (7)+ years of progressive infection prevention experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 3–5 years of infection prevention leadership experience
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CBIC) within 24 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure preferred
