About The Position

Responsible for assisting in coordinating an effective hospital-wide program for the surveillance including policy/procedure development, infection surveillance, data collection, analysis and reporting, intervention, consultation and coordination of Infection Control Committee activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing
  • California RN License
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within three (3) years of hire/promotion
  • Three (3) years of experience as a RN in acute clinical setting
  • Analyses situations accurately and takes effective action
  • Computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheets and graphics
  • Ability to collect, analyze and disseminate data
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills with patients, co-workers and guests
  • Exercises a high degree of initiative, judgment, and discretion
  • Knowledge and ability to create excellence in service
  • Self motivated, self starter, and able to organize efforts around helping clients have a positive experience
  • Written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Assists in investigating and reporting hospital-acquired infections.
  • Promotes system wide participation in the infection control program.
  • Acts as a resource for infection control questions from physicians and hospital staffs.
  • Collect, analyze and report infection control information and results throughout medical staff and hospital committee structures.
  • Assist with other Quality Improvement processes and Risk Management issues.
  • Coordinates Quality Improvement studies as directed.
  • Assists to prepare and maintain policies and procedures related to Infection Control, which insure hospital’s compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Presents orientation and in-service programs for hospital staff.
  • Serves as member of hospital committees as assigned: Safety Committee, Infection Prevention, Education Committee, P&T Committee, Valve Analysis and others as needed.
  • Serves as a resource to other EMC entities for infection control and related issues.
  • Administer immunizations to staff and/or patients, as needed.
  • Support the Magnet culture by coordinating nursing quality programs related to hand hygiene and other pertinent infection prevention practices.
  • In collaboration with Medical Director of Infectious Disease and Epidemiologist drafts the annual Infection Control Plan and Report to be approved at the Infection Control Committee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
