About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) the Infection Control Coordinator serves as a facilitator, educator, resource for leadership and staff relating to evidence-based practice infection prevention. This position plans, develops, facilitates and coordinates the Infection Prevention and Control Program for Sonoma County Indian Health Project, Inc. As well as ensures compliance with the requirements with SCIHP’s Immunization and Vaccination Program, CMS, AAAHC, OSHA, Public Health Department, and other applicable regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • California state license in Nursing preferred or California Certified Medical Assistant, with five (5) years of experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years Infection Control experience.
  • Must have experience with computer applications in Infection Prevention and Control and Microsoft Office Program.
  • Maintains current knowledge of CDC guidelines and recommendations for infection prevention/control and definitions of health care associated infections.
  • Knowledgeable of epidemiological principles and infectious disease, as well as sterilization sanitation and disinfection practices.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and relay vital information to internal/external contacts.
  • All employees must be sensitive to the needs of the Native American Community, demonstrate a deep understanding and respect for the diverse cultural heritage, traditions, and historical context of the Native American community.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificates for Infection Control for Ambulatory Clinics, and Healthcare Infection Prevention and Control, are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and evaluates all aspects of the organizations Infection Prevention and Control Program.
