About The Position

The Steamboat Child Care Center (SCCC) is hiring a full-time (Mon–Fri) Infant–Toddler Primary Caregiver who believes in relationship-based early childhood care. Our program values continuity of care, with primary caregivers staying with the same group of children for up to three years. We’re looking for a committed, experienced caregiver who truly loves working with infants and toddlers and values building strong, lasting relationships with children and their families. Requirements

  • Knowledge of infant and toddler growth and development
  • Must have taken or willing to take the Infant and Toddler Theory and Practice (3 credit) college course or a similar course that will meet the state qualifications.
  • Knowledge of infant and toddler development and willingness to stay up to date with current best practices
  • Must demonstrate an interest in young children and a concern for their proper care and well-being
  • Flexibility to care for children of all ages birth-5 years
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under stressful situations
  • Ability to provide positive guidance and redirection to all children, at all times
  • Ability to maintain professional communication with parents, supervisors, co-teachers, and assistants
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a teaching team to create a safe and cognitively stimulating environment
  • Ability to adhere to all health and safety policies and program policies and procedures
  • Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards
  • Reliable attendance required.
  • The SCCC requires staff to have a medical professional sign off that they are mentally and physically competent and it is appropriate for them to work with children
  • Must successfully complete background & fingerprint check
  • Must complete health evaluation signed by medical professional
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both verbal and written
  • Ability to lift, carry, and position children up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, talking, and sitting on the floor

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, healthy, and secure environment with an emphasis on children’s social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive needs
  • Perform daily child care duties as assigned including feeding, diapers, play, and naps
  • Register in the PDIS and complete all required training courses including 15 hours of continuing education/year provide documentation to the coach
  • Supervise, mentor, and direct assistant teachers and subs/floaters
  • Work with the Director, early learning specialists, and families to create and implement behavior plans for children with challenging behavior
  • Work cooperatively as a team with other teaching professionals
  • Provide positive guidance and redirection
  • Record diapers, naps, and daily activities in Brightwheel
  • Maintain professional communication with parents and other staff daily
  • Maintain all necessary records including illness logs
  • Work with a teaching team to create monthly lesson plans and write monthly newsletters
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, sending updates and emails on a regular basis
  • Complete observations and assessments at least 3 times a year using our assessment tool called Teaching Strategies Gold
  • Use assessments to prepare / plan curriculum, and lead parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring
  • Help plan and lead family nights including back-to-school nights
  • Monitor children for illness and follow our procedures for sending sick children home
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
