About The Position

Develop strategies to create and manage mutually beneficial partnerships with private-sector companies and the University of Wyoming. Cultivate and facilitate a holistic corporate and industry relations portfolio. Working alongside Research and Economic Development (REDD) and UW Foundation teams, this role is responsible for generating financial support from industry partners in alignment with the University of Wyoming’s strategic plan. Serve as key team player in implementing a campus-wide corporate engagement effort designed to coordinate the University of Wyoming’s approach to build partnerships strategically and meaningfully between industry and the university.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 5 years of work-related experience
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP

  • Previous experience in corporate engagement, fundraising, non-profit or higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a donor/prospect portfolio
  • Deep appreciation and understanding of the University and the ability to articulate academic goals and values with an ethically and culturally diverse community
  • Experience in proposal preparation
  • Knowledge of corporate engagement trends, best practices, policies, and procedures, specifically related to corporate giving and industry sponsored research.
  • Demonstration of excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate prospects and partners with clear revenue goals and performance expectations.
  • Proactively build and nurture a strong pipeline of corporate prospects aligned with both unit and University objectives who are capable of making major ($25k+) investments at the University of Wyoming – in research collaborations, philanthropic gifts or in-kind contributions.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for faculty and academic units pursuing industry sponsored research resource on industry-supported, providing guidance on engagement strategy and supporting campus to navigate administrative processes for industry sponsored research.
  • Work with colleagues in the Research and Economic Development Division and the UW Foundation to develop tools that help faculty navigate administrative processes for industry sponsored research.
  • Partner with colleagues in the Research and Economic Development Division and academic units to provide trainings and outreach activities that grow the knowledge, confidence and competency for faculty to engage in industry sponsored research.
  • Undertake initiatives aimed at securing and nurturing financial support from industry.
  • Collaborate directly with development professionals, academic entities, and campus affiliates to devise innovative strategies for engaging industries in mutually beneficial partnerships at UW.
  • Foster collaboration between industry and UW by pinpointing natural synergies and facilitating connections between relevant companies and campus entities.
  • Support interdisciplinary research programs by facilitating connections between faculty, academic staff, and industry partners.
  • Leverage administrative and program support resources across campus to optimize alignment between UW's business, student, research, and faculty interests and those of industry.
  • Support and advise development professionals and campus stakeholders engaged with partnerships opportunities with industry including philanthropy, research collaborations, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to identify emerging industry needs and priorities and discover new prospects interested in partnership with UW.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination for campus corporate engagement endeavors, including the development of annual corporate plans.
  • Work closely with prospect management and research teams, development professionals, and campus partners to uphold standards of data integrity, organization, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of proposals for corporate partners and prospects.
  • Support efforts to track the career progression of alumni in industry to uncover and create engagement opportunities with UW.
  • Facilitate effective stewardship of corporate relationships through regular reporting, ongoing communication, and public acknowledgment of engagement.
  • Collaborate with marketing and stewardship teams to develop a comprehensive strategy for communicating the impact of corporate investment at UW and expressing gratitude to corporate partners.
  • Arrange and manage campus visits and meetings from industry representatives.
  • Partner with Research and Economic Development to streamline administrative processes necessary for successful industry-based projects, adhering to campus research policies and procedures.
  • Manage project teams and OISP personnel providing guidance and feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Corporate Engagement and UW Foundation Development team on potential gift opportunities from companies.
  • Promote faculty-focused programs, events, and initiatives aimed at fostering industry-engaged research within the University.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Attend and participate in training and other personal professional development activity.
