About The Position

Assist in the industrial production processes from pilot scale to manufacturing of new Barilla Meal Solution products. Investigating and execute opportunity and projects according to the cost optimization (Design to values) initiatives or process improvement perfomances. Provide upgrading plans to ensure maintaining or improving product performance. Maintaining Barilla enovia specifications and Industrializzation sharepoint database update for exsisting product/process portfolio. This is a hybrid role based out of Northbrook, IL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Engineering (preferred)
  • 4 or more years of relevant work experience in food manufacturing; major multinational company preferred
  • Proven experience in product quality/cost optimization, scale up, and commercialization
  • Proven experience in specification management with products and processes
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and GMP’s
  • Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, ENOVIA and appropriate supporting programs (e.g. cleaning, sanitation, pest management, etc.) preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and systems, including ISO 22000, ISO 14000 and ISO 9001 is a plus.
  • Experience in pasta process (Semolina and GF) or hot filled processing (tomatoes sauces, condiments, or hot filled beverages) required
  • Experience with other food technologies and thermal processing preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously meeting project deliverables
  • Experience working as an active, collaborative colleague on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data, make recommendations and solve a business problem while being accountable for communication and documetnation
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated in an environment of ambiguity
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP system a plus
  • Ability to travel within US and Canada up to 30% domestically; often with limited advance notice

Responsibilities

  • Support the scale up of new products at manufacturing plants and co-packers, including line commissioning and production start ups.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of process standard specifications
  • Monitor and implement correct processes in regards to quality for all finished products.
  • Work directly and actively network with plant technologist for industrialization activities
  • Conduct Technology audit, update Technology Manual for the annual audit. Follow up on audit corrective action.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of existing products specifications in the Enovia database and process procedures into Barilla database.
  • Propose ideas and Execute cost optimization projects (Design to Values)
  • Perform product upgrades at the plants.
  • Assist in plant crisis management; recommend solutions and solve raw materials/product/process related issues
  • Evaluate performance in products of new raw materials, quality issues and management.
  • Organize Shelf Life studies in cooperation with Sensory on existing and modified products when appropriate
  • Support Plant Technologists and Quality & Technology Managers for the technology related topics including lines manuals and process paperwork
  • Support the development of the plant technologists, providing know-how and insights
  • Works effectively with other divisions and departments as well maintain/display a constructive leadership in a group environment.
  • Project management skills including report writing that contain solid findings and recommendations
  • Able to successfully handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Display long term vision.
