About The Position

HMG is seeking a skilled and dependable Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Lead. The Operator Lead is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and oversight of the wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and operational

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma/GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Wastewater treatment.
  • OIT & full operator certification
  • Knowledge of the methods, procedures, and equipment used in wastewater testing
  • Ability to operate and repair wastewater treatment plant equipment.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily wastewater treatment operations and ensure efficient system performance.
  • Distribute and review work assignments; establish schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Oversee and train staff; support new employee onboarding and ongoing development.
  • Monitor and operate treatment plant systems, pumps, valves, and equipment for proper flow and treatment.
  • Perform ORC (Operator in Responsible Charge) duties and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and maintenance to ensure plant reliability.
  • Monitor control panels, meters, gauges, and SCADA systems to identify and correct variations in operation.
  • Collect and analyze water and sludge samples; record and report findings accurately.
  • Manage and maintain operational logs, reports, and electronic documentation.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and operational maintenance using hand and power tools.
  • Ensure proper chemical dosing and adjustments for disinfection, clarification, and water quality control.
  • Maintain accountabilities for all assigned tools and equipment.
  • Support safety, compliance, and environmental standards in daily operations.
  • Respond to call-back availability as required to support continuous operations.
