Job Overview The Industrial Wastewater Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving industrial wastewater treatment systems to ensure safe discharge in compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as an Industrial Waste Water Operator or Technician.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and industrial electricity.
  • Experience operating industrial wastewater pretreatment systems (oily and metal wastewater preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret chemical analysis data, lab results, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to properly handle chemicals per MSDS guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and computer-based maintenance systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain industrial wastewater treatment systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation required for environmental compliance and audits.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on wastewater equipment, including pumps, tanks, clarifiers, separators, filters, presses, and dosing systems.
  • Transfer fluids and chemicals using pumps and approved handling methods in accordance with MSDS and safety standards.
  • Coordinate disposal of waste materials including sludge, skimmed oils, filters, rags, and cleaners.
  • Make repairs and modifications to plumbing and piping systems as required.
  • Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other equipment as required.
  • Collect wastewater samples, perform testing, and adjust chemical treatment processes within specified limits.
