About The Position

Konecranes, a global leader in material handling solutions, is seeking an Industrial Technician to join their team in San Diego, CA. This role is for an experienced Overhead Crane Service Technician, requiring strong electrical and mechanical expertise, and comfort working at extreme heights. Service technicians are integral to the industry, operating in a safety-first environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience involving electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair.
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to work off the ground.
  • Can work varied overtime, as needed by customer.
  • Be available for "on call" as part of the service office rotation.
  • Be able to travel and work out of town, on occasion.
  • Comfortable working at extreme heights.
  • Skilled in electrical and mechanical expertise.
  • Ability to troubleshoot 480 3-phase motors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic issues on-site.
  • Ability to perform post-repair audits.
  • Ability to document findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ability to consult with customers on repair and safety issues.
  • Ability to produce electronic documentation using company tools.
  • Ability to stay updated on industry codes and regulations (OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI).
  • Ability to complete service reports and other required documents accurately and promptly.
  • Ability to communicate with the Field Operations Manager and Service Coordinator.
  • Ability to maintain company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets.
  • Ability to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Ability to follow established safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Must be able to frequently lift to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to lift to 75 lbs. although not on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs. on a rare basis.
  • Requires frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, and overhead reaching.
  • Requires occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Industrial Electrical and/or Mechanical Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.
  • Some electronic experience.
  • Prior experience with cranes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at customer locations.
  • Provide on-call service as part of a rotation, including after-hours support.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic issues on-site.
  • Perform post-repair audits to ensure safety features are functional.
  • Document findings and recommend corrective actions, including safety notifications to customers.
  • Consult with customers on repair and safety issues, offering recommendations for material handling improvement.
  • Produce electronic documentation using company tools, obtaining customer signatures.
  • Stay updated on industry codes and regulations (OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI).
  • Complete service reports and other required documents accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate with the Field Operations Manager and Service Coordinator following established practices
  • Maintain company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets in proper working order.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles, reporting deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Follow established safety rules and procedures, including customer guidelines.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
