About The Position

American Iron & Metal (AIM) is a family-owned global leader in the metal recycling industry. The Industrial Site Manager, reporting to the Regional Director, is responsible for supervising, directing, and controlling the operations of the site. This role requires effective response to safety, quality, and production requirements, overseeing the planning of employee, material, and economic resource allocation, and collaborating with management for continuous process optimization. The manager will also be involved in purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous materials, managing site activities, leading and motivating a team, monitoring performance, ensuring client satisfaction, and implementing continuous improvements to processes and policies. Additionally, the role includes enforcing health and safety regulations and ensuring the physical security of the premises.

Requirements

  • Three to five years' experience in a similar position, ideally in the metal industry
  • Strong execution and decision-making skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and motivational skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication, listening, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervising, directing, and controlling the operations of the site
  • Responding effectively to the requirements of safety, quality, and production
  • Overseeing the planning of the overall allocation of employees, material, and economic resources
  • Working with management to continuously optimize and improve processes
  • Purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • Handling management of site activities
  • Managing, coaching, and motivating the team
  • Completing performance evaluations
  • Ensuring the procedures of daily operations with the employees, and then monitoring the execution of all their activities
  • Monitoring staff and reporting on their results
  • Prioritizing, analyzing performance gaps, identifying business opportunities, and ensuring cost reductions, using available tools
  • Preparing any reports required for management
  • Working towards the achievement of budgetary financial results
  • Controlling inventory and quality
  • Promoting and managing a customer-oriented team
  • Being on the lookout for new, innovative, and creative services that will improve or simplify processes
  • Ensuring local marketing and meeting the specific needs of the site's customers
  • Defining, developing, and implementing improvements to the processes, procedures, and policies of operations
  • Enforcing health and safety regulations
  • Making the necessary arrangements to ensure the physical security of the premises
