About The Position

The Industrial Refrigeration Technician position is responsible for operation and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration system, HVAC systems, hot water, compressed air, fire protection, and steam systems. The Refrigeration Technician works in compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and IIAR regulations and partners closely with operations, maintenance, leadership, and contractors. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, solid electrical and refrigeration fundamentals, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while continuously developing skills across the utility department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of industrial maintenance/refrigeration experience required.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft based software, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and blueprints during troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
  • Comfortable operating at high elevations
  • Ability to lift or move 75 pounds.
  • Ability to withstand changing environments.
  • Ability to operate an aerial lift and sit-down forklift.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 + years of industrial ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.
  • Associates degree or equivalent certifications in Refrigeration/Mechanical field
  • IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration training
  • RETA/CIRO/CARO – Operators License
  • EPA TYPE Universal License
  • Boiler Operator License
  • Experience with SAP systems

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair plant utility systems, including: Ammonia refrigeration Steam boiler systems Process hot water systems Fire protection systems Compressed air systems
  • Complete daily safety checks and operational rounds
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and blueprints
  • Perform work in compliance with OSHA and IIAR 6 regulations
  • Troubleshoot and repair utility equipment using precision maintenance techniques to support production goals
  • Accurately document work, inspections, and parts usage in the CMMS
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and company policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision
