About The Position

Parallel Employment Group in partnership with a Cheektowaga food manufacutirng company is seeking a qualified Industrial Maintenance Technician. Qualified individual will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all equipment and systems in a bakery manufacturing plant. This role ensures optimal performance and safety of machinery, minimizing downtime, and supporting production by maintaining high-quality standards. Key responsibilities include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, adhering to food safety and sanitation requirements, and working as part of a team to enhance overall plant efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within food production.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting, VFDs, motor controls, and other control systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in hot and cold environments, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA certification, welding certification, or refrigeration certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Quickly troubleshoot and repair bakery equipment including mixers, ovens, proofers, conveyors, packaging lines, and other production machinery.
  • Diagnose issues with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to restore equipment to operational status promptly.
  • Work with PLCs, VFDs, and control systems to identify and resolve faults, ensuring alignment with production requirements.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance activities to prevent unexpected breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to predict potential equipment failures and address them proactively to maintain production flow.
  • Analyze equipment performance and recommend adjustments or modifications to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Work with production to fine-tune settings on machinery for optimal output and minimal product waste.
  • Implement solutions to recurring issues and mechanical inefficiencies by adjusting, modifying, or replacing parts or systems.
  • Assist in installing new equipment or upgrading existing systems to increase production capabilities or quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams on the commissioning of new technology and machinery, ensuring compatibility with current systems.
