About The Position

Based in Wichita, KS, the Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of heat treatment equipment, facilities, and support systems. This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for minimizing unplanned downtime, supporting high production quality, and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally in the heat treating or heavy industrial sector.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, and electrical diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and team communication skills.
  • Ability to work in high-temperature environments, lift up to 50 lbs, and navigate confined spaces and elevated work areas.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to meet ITAR compliance.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Accept constructive feedback and adhere to workplace policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with heat treat brands like Ipsen, Surface Combustion, or Lindberg.
  • Industrial certifications (e.g., Journeyman, NCCER, or electrical licenses).
  • Experience with SCADA systems or furnace data acquisition platforms.
  • Certified in forklift and overhead crane operation.
  • Understanding of metallurgy and heat treatment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial heat treat equipment, including: Vacuum furnaces. Integral quench furnaces. Batch and continuous furnaces. Quench tanks, gas systems, and chillers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain control systems, burners, fans, thermocouples, sensors, transformers, and PLC-based equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of water flows, fluid levels, filters, and wash systems; report anomalies.
  • Perform analytical troubleshooting and assist in testing equipment per manufacturer and company-wide standards.
  • Maintain compliance with pyrometry and industry standards (e.g., AMS2750, CQI-9, Nadcap).
  • Maintain accurate logs and service records using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Assist with facility and vehicle upkeep, including running errands and collecting materials as needed.
  • Maintain shop manuals, blueprints, and documentation in an organized manner.
  • Promote continuous improvement and lean practices across operations.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering to ensure equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Promptly report and act on repair needs for equipment, facility, and vehicles.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the maintenance department and work areas.
