Lockheed Martin, Missiles Fire and Control is seeking a Summer Industrial Engineer Intern in Ocala, Florida. The Ocala Operations is a multi-shift manufacturing facility that builds circuit cards, wiring harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies. The facility currently has over 1400 employees and provides products to six Missiles and Fire Control sites. Ocala specializes in both low volume high mix and high volume production that has a combination of automated processes as well as labor intensive manufacturing. Ocala operations has a represented manufacturing workforce that is supported by a strong engineering and operations support team. Candidate must be pursuing a 4 year engineering degree from an accredited college or university. Candidate must be able to apply lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, value‑stream mapping) to cut costs and boost yields, and capable of conducting data‑collection activities such as time studies and work‑measurement analyses. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively in cross‑functional teams, and experience investigating root causes of failures or defects (using fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.) with subsequent implementation of corrective actions for continuous improvement are required. Familiarity with AutoCAD for creating plant layouts and advanced Excel functions is a plus. This position will be located at a facility that requires special access and requires the selected candidate to be a U.S. Citizen.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering degree program.
  • Course work in AutoCAD.
  • Course work in Lean manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly, industrial processes, technical writing, and teamwork.
