About The Position

We are seeking a motivated intern to support manufacturing and warehousing operations. Key responsibilities include implementing a new or upgraded barcode system to optimize workflows, improve inventory accuracy, and enhance efficiency. The candidate will also develop and deliver manufacturing documentation such as work instructions and training guides. This hands-on, cross-functional role involves collaborating with engineering, IT, and operations teams across Cretex sites in Brooklyn Park and Dassel, MN. The intern will help ensure a successful system rollout and user adoption in a regulated, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a four-year degree program in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Technical Communication, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences (engineers, IT, operators, and management).
  • Basic IT and networking knowledge; familiarity with barcode technologies.
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills for multiple audiences.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, process flows, and equipment manuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; Publisher).
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and curious.

Responsibilities

  • Map current workflows, handling, and data collection methods to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in designing the barcode system implementation, including hardware selection, labeling conventions, and ERP integration by defining data fields for handheld scanners.
  • Configure, test, deploy, and support hardware and software in production and warehouse environments.
  • Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather technical information.
  • Create and revise documentation such as work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and training materials, including diagrams, images and flowcharts.
  • Maintain version control of all technical documents.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality System, ISO standards, and medical device regulations.
  • Follow established work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Understand customer needs and core markets served.
