About The Position

At Vessel Technologies, we’re not just building housing—we’re reimagining what housing can be. Our groundbreaking approach combines world-class design, advanced technology, and scalable manufacturing discipline to redefine how people live and experience home. In 2024, Vessel reinvented the apartment building. Now, we’re building the operational backbone that will allow us to scale our impact nationwide. Join our Operations team as an Industrial Engineer – Engineering Data Control, where you will help strengthen and scale the systems that define, control, and evolve our products. The Industrial Engineer – Engineering Data Control will play a critical role in advancing Vessel’s product data infrastructure. This highly detail-oriented, systems-focused role is responsible for Bills of Materials (BoMs), part numbering governance, engineering drawing control, NetSuite item master ownership, and the development and execution of our Engineering Change Notice (ECN/ECO) process. As Vessel continues to scale, we are formalizing and strengthening our engineering data and product lifecycle processes. This role will build structure, clarity, and repeatability into how our products are defined, documented, and how changes are managed across the organization. This role reports to the Executive Vice President of Operations, with a dotted-line relationship to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, and partners closely with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Field Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering support, product data management, configuration control, or similar roles.
  • Experience working with CAD systems (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and building structured processes.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly across engineering and operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure every part designed in SolidWorks is properly structured and assigned a standardized part number.
  • Develop and maintain Vessel’s part numbering schema.
  • Own the integrity and ongoing accuracy of the NetSuite item master.
  • Create and maintain structured, complete Bills of Materials for all Vessel products.
  • Align CAD models, engineering drawings, documentation, and ERP records to ensure consistency and traceability.
  • Manage and maintain the folder-tree structure of engineering drawings to ensure clarity, organization, and revision control.
  • Design and implement a scalable ECN/ECO process to support Vessel’s growth.
  • Establish revision control standards and documentation workflows.
  • Manage and execute engineering changes across cross-functional teams.
  • Lead cross-functional change control meetings.
  • Ensure changes are clearly communicated to Procurement, Manufacturing, and Field teams.
  • Maintain clear version history and traceability of all product updates.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineers to translate design intent into well-defined, controlled product structures.
  • Partner with Procurement to ensure accurate sourcing aligned with current product definitions.
  • Support Manufacturing and Field Operations by ensuring teams are always working from current, approved documentation.
  • Interact occasionally with suppliers to clarify specifications and revisions.
  • Strengthen and formalize workflows currently managed through spreadsheets and ERP systems.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for part creation, documentation, and revision management.
  • Build scalable foundations that support future PLM or digital lifecycle tools.
  • Help create a disciplined engineering data environment that enables efficient growth across regions and production volumes.

Benefits

  • A foundational role in building Vessel’s operational backbone.
  • Direct visibility with executive leadership.
  • The opportunity to architect systems that will scale nationally.
  • A mission-driven team solving the housing crisis through design and engineering.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Professional growth as the role evolves into broader product lifecycle ownership.
