About The Position

The Industrial Engineer is an early-career professional who partners with cross-functional teams to support innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. Success in this role is demonstrated by the ability to execute engineering projects, support capital initiatives, and solve real-time manufacturing challenges while balancing hands-on floor support with structured project and analytical work. The Industrial Engineer consistently delivers solutions safely, on time, and within budget while building strong technical and business acumen. This role reports into the Engineering organization and works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Procurement, and external vendors. The position is designed for a developing engineer who thrives in a highly visible, hands-on manufacturing environment while gaining exposure to corporate project execution and stakeholder communication. Approximately 60% of the role is spent on the manufacturing floor providing technical support and troubleshooting, with 40% focused on office-based project work, analysis, and documentation. The role requires no less than 50% travel to support multiple manufacturing locations and project installations.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of manufacturing processes and packaging equipment
  • Exposure to packaging systems such as wrappers, cartoners, palletizers, and robotic packaging equipment
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze data and make practical recommendations
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with documentation and project coordination
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with hourly teams and corporate partners
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related scientific or engineering discipline
  • 0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment (internship or co-op experience acceptable)
  • Willingness and ability to travel no less than 50% to support manufacturing locations and project work
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor for extended periods of time
  • Flexibility to support evening or weekend work as needed during project installations or critical events
  • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn in a hands-on engineering role

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of capital expenditure documentation, including scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and authorization requests
  • Assist in managing project timelines, costs, risks, and change orders under the guidance of senior engineers or project leaders
  • Provide regular project updates, risks, and recommendations to engineering and operations stakeholders
  • Coordinate with OEMs, system integrators, and vendors during equipment design, installation, startup, and handoff
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Procurement, Sales, and external suppliers
  • Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor providing hands-on technical support
  • Troubleshoot processing and packaging line performance issues related to throughput, quality, scrap, downtime, and reliability
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by collecting data, performing root cause analysis, and identifying savings opportunities
  • Assist with line extensions, innovation trials, maintenance projects, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all work aligns with company safety, quality, and operational standards
