About The Position

The Industrial Engineer Intern supports continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing and business processes. This role focuses on data collection, process analysis, standardization, and productivity improvement using industrial engineering principles. The intern will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify waste, improve flow, and support cost, quality, delivery, and safety goals.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or project experience in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ergonomics, or operations research.
  • Familiarity with CAD/layout tools (e.g., AutoCAD) and/or data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing KPI reporting.
  • Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with time studies, motion studies, and process mapping activities.
  • Collect and analyze production/process data to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Support line balancing, labor utilization, and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Help develop and update standard work instructions and visual management tools.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects (Lean, 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction).
  • Support plant layout and material flow improvement efforts.
  • Assist in tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, downtime, scrap, and OEE.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EHS teams on improvement actions.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and project documentation for leadership updates.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
