About The Position

Safely and competently perform troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections on a wide variety of equipment, in both inside and outdoor applications in a continuous operational environment. Analyzes and interprets one lines, wiring diagrams, sketches and drawings to select a logical approach to troubleshooting, tracing, and testing circuits to determining replacement or repair needs of equipment. Regularly use electrical testing instruments, hand tools, and machinery to install, repair, connect, disconnect, and/or replace electrical systems and supporting infrastructure. Performs electrical isolation of equipment for safety of self and others as part of isolation lock out tag out while minimizing interference to operations. Inspect, repair, install, and wire all electrical devices and circuits 480V and below in the plant. Work with all types and sizes of motors, transformers, circuit breakers, electronic controls, control panels, starters, VFD’s, switches, lighting equipment, power distribution and control circuits, conduit and fittings, wire and cable, hardware, insulations, solder, repair and replacement parts, cables, insulators, conduit, etc. Perform work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, principles of operation, and application of equipment. Be willing and interested in learning additional skills beyond traditional electrical skills to become a cross-functional crafts-person. Provide technical advice, quality control, problem solving, troubleshooting, and repair recommendations. Understand consequences of equipment failure and repair errors. Participate in continuous improvement processes. Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and elevated work platforms as required to facilitate work. Work in shop or field as required. Inspect and keep tools and work area in clean and orderly condition. Promote and demonstrate a positive work attitude and atmosphere. Obey, support and enforce all Pilkington/NSG Safety procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Journeyman card, certification and/or 5+ years of electrical trades maintenance work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Positive, high energy, and self-motivated
  • Understanding of shop mathematics with the use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to demonstrate job duties as it relates to experience
  • Written and onsite hands on assessment testing
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work at elevated work stations
  • Availability to work for extended periods during emergency repair work
  • Availability as needed to work on both a scheduled and call-out basis, and the ability to work at the assigned job site
  • Willing to work shift work and assist in other areas of department or site as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience; SAP and eMaint preferred, not mandatory
