Position Description Title: Elect/Inst Tech Journeyman Department: Maintenance Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Status: Non-Exempt Hourly Position Purpose: Responsible for installation, troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and rebuild of all plant electrical equipment and machines. Involved with modifying and improving existing equipment. Train and pass along knowledge to other employees. Assist production with maintaining a high level of equipment up time. Work extended schedules during shutdown periods.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Journeyman's card in Electronics, Electrical or related trade and/or a minimum of six years of relevant experience in the trade
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics
  • Have residential and/or industrial wiring skills, PLC and computer skills, electronic circuit board repair skills, power distribution skills along with general machine repair skills
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in the following areas:
  • Explosion proof systems ranging from three-phase 480-volt transformers to low-volt intrinsically safe instrumentation
  • Analog, digital and hard-wired circuit experience
  • Test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meter, meggers)
  • Programmable Logic Controllers
  • AC and DC drive installation, programming and troubleshooting
  • Troubleshooting relay logic

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to set up bench testing and troubleshoot components is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Actively Participate in the Marysville Plant Safety Program
  • Repair electrical failures on systems 460/60/3, 230/60/3, 220/60/1, and 120/60/1 AC and DC systems to 600 Volts.
  • Troubleshoot control systems using PC's and PLC's.
  • Communicate shift activities with other maintenance personnel and maintenance supervisors.
  • Break down work orders to determine feasibility and what resources are needed to complete.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment performance is at maximum.
  • Interact with equipment suppliers.
  • Develop repair procedures and monitor as needed.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for equipment improvements.
  • Actively participate in department meetings.
  • Occasionally travel to suppliers and trade shows to communicate our requirements.
  • Make some decisions based only on limited amount of information available at a given time.
  • Perform shut down activities.
  • Communicate equipment and process changes with Production.
  • Communicate equipment upgrades with Engineering.
  • Investigate problems with equipment, and, or process.
