Industrial Design Intern - Boston (May 2026)
About The Position
PA Consulting operates as a unified global team of strategists, innovators, designers, consultants, scientists, engineers, and technologists, helping clients drive innovation. Their US-based design teams in Boston (formerly Essential Design) have shaped design culture for decades through solutions that blend technology, lifestyle, and design. They are seeking a paid, in-person intern to join their team in Boston. Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills and be able to contribute at every stage of the design process, working on real projects alongside designers, engineers, and strategists to develop impactful solutions.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizens currently studying or recently graduated in Industrial Design or adjacent field
- Strong problem-solving skills and passion for creative exploration
- Portfolio demonstrating storytelling, process documentation, wide-ranging concept exploration, creative solutions, and aesthetic sense
- Great communication and visualization skills
- 2D design skills: Analog and digital sketching, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- 3D modeling and rendering experience
- Prototyping proficiency with ability to integrate feedback
- Portfolio demonstrating strong problem-solving capabilities
- Portfolio demonstrating clear, well-documented design process
- Portfolio demonstrating ideation and concept development
- Portfolio demonstrating model-making proficiency
- Portfolio demonstrating distinct point of view
- Collaborative mindset, critical thinking abilities, and a strong willingness to learn
- Keen awareness of emerging trends and the ability to integrate them into their design approach
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and KeyShot
- Interest in Generative AI application (Midjourney / Vizcom / Copilot)
Responsibilities
- Researching design trends and contributing to client presentations
- Using traditional design tools(sketching/CAD/Keyshot, etc.) to explore ideas and refine concepts
- Hands-on mockups, model making and prototyping
- Gaining experience throughout the full design process
- Contributing to internal projects to develop technical skills and help bring innovative ideas to life
