About The Position

Shape Next‑Gen Packaging Machinery Join a growing, family-owned automation team rebuilding and customizing packaging and processing equipment. In this hands-on role, you’ll architect control systems, write PLC/HMI code from a blank project, and bring complex machines to life. A Day in the Role Start (6:00–8:00 AM) : Review build schedules, open a fresh Studio 5000 project, define tags and I/O, and storyboard HMI screens. Midday : Wire field devices—valves, solenoids, HMIs, servos—verify schematics, and collaborate with electricians, panel builders, mechanics, and painters. Afternoon : Commission and tune servo axes, validate safety I/O, troubleshoot system behavior, and make independent technical calls to keep the project on track. Support : Provide remote programming help; travel is minimal (typically 1–2 trips per year). What You’ll Build Custom automated packaging and processing systems that integrate electrical and mechanical components into high‑performance, reliable machinery.

Requirements

  • 5+ years with industrial machinery.
  • Deep Allen‑Bradley PLC & HMI programming experience.
  • Hands‑on field wiring expertise.
  • Servo/motion systems experience.
  • Proven project leadership and sound technical judgment.
  • AutoCAD Electrical (basic required; advanced preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Fanuc or ABB robot programming.
  • Mechanical installation/integration know‑how.
  • Cross‑functional team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Program Allen‑Bradley PLCs and HMIs from scratch.
  • Lead commissioning, troubleshooting, and project execution.
  • Perform field wiring for external components (valves, solenoids, HMIs, servos).
  • Own technical decisions and project leadership.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with shop and field teams.
  • Deliver remote programming support with minimal travel.
