About The Position

Invictus is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead field execution for the turnkey installation of two fully operational, code compliant 21,000-ton central utility chiller plants. This role is responsible for managing all on site construction activities from mobilization through commissioning support, ensuring safe, high quality, and on schedule delivery. This position requires a hands-on field leader with deep mechanical construction expertise who understands large scale utility infrastructure, heavy equipment installation sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and remote site logistics. The Construction Manager will serve as the primary on site authority, ensuring alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. This is a full time W2 position based in Houston, Texas, with regular field site engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of ten to fifteen years of construction management experience supporting large industrial or mechanical infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience delivering central utility plants, high capacity chiller plants, or similar heavy mechanical installations
  • Strong knowledge of large tonnage chiller systems, cooling towers, pumps, piping systems, electrical distribution, and controls integration
  • Proven experience managing turnkey or EPC construction programs
  • Strong understanding of construction safety standards and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex site logistics

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 10,000 ton or larger chiller plants, district energy, or mission critical cooling infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Texas construction conditions and labor markets
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup of high-capacity mechanical systems
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Primavera P6, Procore, or MS Project

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all on site construction activities across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, piping, and controls systems
  • Execute work in accordance with turnkey contract documents, approved drawings, specifications, and construction schedules
  • Coordinate daily field operations to ensure proper sequencing, constructability, and efficient labor utilization
  • Maintain alignment between construction activities, procurement schedules, and engineering deliverables
  • Support development and maintenance of detailed construction schedules in coordination with project leadership
  • Monitor field progress against milestones and proactively identify schedule risks
  • Implement recovery plans to mitigate delays and protect the critical path
  • Track subcontractor performance, field productivity, and cost exposure to support budget adherence
  • Enforce project specific health, safety, and environmental plans
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, local, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations
  • Promote a zero-incident safety culture across all subcontractors and site personnel
  • Ensure all construction work meets applicable codes including IBC, NEC, ASME, ASHRAE, and local authority requirements
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and quality verification activities
  • Verify proper installation of chillers, cooling towers, pumps, piping systems, electrical distribution, and controls integration
  • Work closely with QA personnel to resolve deficiencies and maintain documentation integrity
  • Manage subcontractors and field crews, including daily coordination, performance oversight, and issue resolution
  • Coordinate delivery, staging, and installation of major equipment and materials
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with project safety, quality, and schedule standards
  • Support pre functional testing, system startup, and integrated commissioning activities
  • Coordinate punch list completion and readiness for substantial completion
  • Support owner training, documentation turnover, and final acceptance
  • Serve as the primary construction point of contact for owner representatives, inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Provide regular field reports on progress, safety performance, quality status, and key risks
  • Participate in coordination meetings and executive reviews as required
