Industrial Coating Specialist - 2nd Shift
About The Position
GTI Fabrication is a leading manufacturer specializing in custom modular structures, shipping container-based buildings, and ballistic metal fabrication. We serve multiple industries, including DOD contractors, military, disaster relief, and commercial sectors. Our advanced containerized and modular solutions are all built in-house at our Buffalo, NY facility. Our manufacturing capabilities include military training enclosures, live fire enclosures, modular bathroom and shower units, expeditionary camps, medical facilities, water treatment systems, energy storage enclosures, and more. We are seeking a skilled Industrial Coater / Powder Coater to join our team! Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Industrial Coatings or Commercial Painting with Spray application
- Some knowledge of abrasive blast cleaning and surface preparation.
- Experience mixing and applying two-component primers, epoxies, and topcoats.
- Ability to use airless, air-assisted, and conventional spray systems.
Nice To Haves
- 3+ years of experience in Industrial Coatings or OEM style painting
- Strong understanding of metal surface cleaning and preparation using hand tools, power tools, and abrasive blasting.
- Ability to interpret and follow Product Data Sheets (PDS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Proficiency in coating thickness measurement and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Properly measuring and mixing liquid (2-component) coating systems and appropriate thinner when necessary.
- Ensuring parts are cleaned properly and ready for paint.
- Applying zinc primers, epoxies, and polyurethane top coat using airless, air-assisted, and/or conventional spray equipment to metal surfaces.
- Understanding of using a wet mil gauge to ensure proper coating thickness before cure.
- Documenting Dry Film thickness of coating post-cure.
- Properly loading & hanging parts for coating process
- Setting paint booth for application with properly hung parts
- Maintaining/cleaning and operating paint sprayers, equipment & booths, and other finishing tools.
- Moving materials through the production process manually or with forklifts.
