About The Position

Industrial Automation Engineer, Injection Molding & Metal Processing Onsite: Gainesville, GA | Hours: 07:30 am – 04:30 pm | Reporting to: Business Unit Manager Imagine this It’s 7:30 am. You step onto the production floor where four automated assembly lines and a mix of molding and metal-processing cells are waiting for your expertise. An alarm flashes; you trace it through a Siemens PLC routine (STL), teach a robot move on a KUKA, verify parameters, then commission a new measurement system. By afternoon, your observations turn into a scoped mini-project to eliminate recurrence and shave cycle time. Your mission Be the hands-on problem solver (≈80% troubleshooting, ≈20% projects) who stabilizes, optimizes, and advances our automation.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering and 3+ years relevant experience, or AS with 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Siemens PLC proficiency (STL); PLC troubleshooting/programming strength.
  • Robot experience: Motoman Yaskawa and KUKA.
  • CAD capability (CREO preferred) and knowledge of servo drives.
  • Hands-on integration of automation components.
  • Electrical troubleshooting across 24V DC, 110V AC, 230V AC, 400V AC, 480V AC.
  • Disciplined documentation; 5-Why and 8D root-cause methods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct capability studies on machines/processes and deploy improvements.
  • Support FMEA, APQP, and Control Plan creation and reviews to embed quality.
  • Develop investment ideas; evaluate quotes and recommend suppliers for indirect materials.
  • Lead complex equipment/process commissioning and acceptance testing.
  • Define process parameters; write and update work instructions.
  • Create automation concepts for new programs in collaboration with Industrial Engineering.
  • Perform feasibility reviews of functions, layouts, and electrical designs; select/modify components.
  • Design and implement compact, complex process solutions; extend existing installations.
  • Program machine controls; teach Motoman Yaskawa and KUKA robots.
  • Safeguard machinery and installations; execute feasibility trials and specifications.
  • Identify savings; drive data-backed process optimization (including DOE).
  • Engage in 8D problem solving; analyze difficult alarms; eliminate root causes.
  • Maintain automation maintenance history and share updates via SharePoint.
  • Support cross-BU issues tied to complex changes or faults.
  • Investigate complaints; define and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan spare parts needs and initiate procurement.
  • Train and onboard employees; create training content; supervise interns and bachelor students.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, company/BU standards, and safety rules.
  • Partner with Quality to verify parameters and check quality-related devices.
  • Provide on-call support when needed.
