Industrial Automation and Electrical Maintenance Specialist It’s what’s inside that counts—especially the people. A day in this role Your shift starts with a safety huddle and PPE check. By mid-morning, you’ve traced a PLC network hiccup, scoped a noisy signal with an oscilloscope, and coordinated with ARP planners to prioritize a crane PM. After lunch, you calibrate a drive, log corrective actions in SAP, and coach a teammate through AC/DC motor control troubleshooting. Before heading out, you tidy your work area—because housekeeping and safety are non‑negotiable. What you’ll tackle Diagnose and resolve issues with electrical systems, apparatus, and components using meters, scopes, and proven troubleshooting methods Work safely at all times—follow PPE and site rules; champion CMC’s Safety Programs and Safety Culture Exercise judgment on AC/DC motor controls, PLCs, electrical drives, and high‑voltage systems up to site maximums; read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics Inspect and maintain shop machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC systems, PLC networks, and overhead cranes Apply strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, distribution control, fluidic, and electrical systems Plan maintenance with ARP Planners; help schedule and prioritize work Perform repairs, part replacements, adjustments, calibrations, installations, testing, and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment Keep accurate records of work performed, repairs, and material usage; use SAP to document time and corrective actions Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams Operate diagnostic tools including digital voltmeters, multi‑meters, paper recorders, oscilloscopes, and related equipment Maintain a clean, organized work area What helps you succeed Proven AC/DC troubleshooting skills; strong electrical controls maintenance/repair ability Logical thinker with solid problem‑solving and multitasking skills; thrive in a fast-paced environment Comfort working at heights and on your feet—standing, walking, and bending for extended periods Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics; understand electrical safe work practices (NFPA 70E preferred) Siemens and/or other PLC troubleshooting experience preferred Familiarity with steel melting, casting, and rolling processes a plus Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred MRO/SAP maintenance system experience preferred Willing to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays Education High School Diploma or GED required Tools & technologies Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platforms: Allen‑Bradley, Siemens Diagnostic equipment: digital voltmeter, paper recorder, multi‑meter, oscilloscope Benefits from day one Medical, vision, and dental coverage starting Day 1 Paid time off and vacation beginning Day 1 401(k) with 4.5% company match $500 annual company‑paid lifestyle benefit Competitive pay and bonus opportunities Company‑paid life and disability insurance Employee Stock Purchase Plan Training and advancement opportunities Why CMC CMC is a Fortune 500 leader in construction reinforcement and steel products, supporting projects and infrastructure worldwide for more than a century.
