About The Position

This is a 32-week individual placement at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge working as an assistant coordinator for an outdoor-focused education program, assisting with a variety of visitor service programs. The individual placement will be part of a dynamic visitor service team; successfully facilitate a variety of school field trips, summer camps, special events, and educational/interpretive programs; and provide accurate information to Refuge visitors.

Requirements

This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority.
All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger.
Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Responsibilities

Organize and facilitate K-6 grade field trips
Home-school and area classroom programs
Create and evaluate education materials
Operating shifts in the Refuge Visitor Center
Facilitate Refuge summer camp programs
Create and facilitate other Education/Interpretation/Outreach programs
Assist in operating the Refuge Visitor Center
Assist other Visitor Service program activities in the field including trails, cabins, and making roving contacts with the public
