The Individual Giving Manager engages in fundraising activities that support organization‑wide campaigns and donor engagement efforts. This role designs and implements donor relations and stewardship strategies to promote meaningful interaction with supporters at all giving levels. The Individual Giving Manager identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of donors and prospects—including those with the capacity for major, planned, or legacy gifts—while executing tailored cultivation plans, personalized proposals, and stewardship materials. The position manages all aspects of planned and legacy gift administration by tracking pledges, ensuring compliance, and coordinating with legal and financial advisors as needed. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate donor records, preparing timely reports, and updating donor information to support effective relationship management. Working collaboratively with leadership, the Individual Giving Manager identifies opportunities to streamline fundraising processes, enhance donor experiences, and strengthen procedures that support the department’s long‑term development goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of fundraising experience, cultivating soliciting, stewarding major donors, and planned giving.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and board policies, particularly in relation to gift acceptance, grants, and other charitable contributions, with the ability to ensure full team compliance.
  • Donor database knowledge (e.g., Salesforce., ClearView, etc.).
  • AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.
  • Regular and reliable job attendance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships.
  • Independent judgement in evaluation options to make sound decisions.
  • In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation and/or stewardship of the donors and prospective donors assigned within their respective donor/prospect pool or fundraising channel.
  • Participates in the effort to establish an effective case for support (value proposition) and provides feedback on how it resonates with their respective assigned prospective donor pool.
  • Manages aspects of the fundraising process (e.g., identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, systems/processing, stewardship) within their respective donor/prospect pool or function.
  • Manages appropriate resources and processes to help ensure personal and departmental success in meeting organizational and personal objectives and goals.
  • Achieves fundraising goals and expectations as defined.
  • Performs duties in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and board policies (e.g., gift acceptance) pertaining to gifts, contributions, grants and other charitable support raised.
  • Adheres to ethical standards established by Association of Fundraising Professionals and National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.
