The Index Strategy team sits at the intersection of sales, investments, product, and business strategy. We are responsible for: Helping shape the strategic direction of State Street’s index business Analyzing market trends, competition, and client demand Supporting pricing, product positioning, and growth initiatives Partnering with investment teams and sales on large, complex client opportunities We are seeking a highly motivated Index Strategy Intern with a strong interest in financial markets, investing, and asset management. The intern will work closely with senior members of the Index Strategy team on real business and investment related projects, gaining insight into both the investment side of indexing and the commercial and strategic decision making that supports it.

Requirements

  • A strong interest in finance, investing, and asset management, particularly passive or systematic strategies
  • Enrollment in (or recent completion of) an undergraduate or graduate program in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to build a career in asset management
  • Experience with Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Supporting market and competitive analysis related to index investing, ETFs, and institutional mandates
  • Assisting with analysis of industry trends, asset flows, and product positioning
  • Helping prepare internal presentations and materials for senior leadership and partner teams
  • Supporting pricing, reporting, and business analytics initiatives
  • Collaborating with investment, product, and sales teams on client related projects and RFP support
  • Conducting ad hoc research on topics such as passive investing, market structure, and index construction
