About The Position

Essential functions Reasonable accommodations will be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Have a working knowledge base of all GSIL programs, criteria for who is appropriate for a referral, and contacts for each program i.e., Peer Supports, Benefits etc. Meet with consumers in their homes and/or living spaces. Conduct in-person intakes: Evaluate home, vehicle, and community accessibility Collaborate with consumers to develop Independent Living Provide information about Independent Living services and goals. Encourage consumer self-advocacy efforts. Continuously identify and utilize local resources to assist consumers to remain independent within their communities. Provide proper referrals to individuals who wish to maintain or obtain employment. Empower consumers through: IL skills training: i.e., financial management, organization/household management, accessing public transit/ or conduct travel training, etc. Information to assist youth consumers to become independent adults. Facilitate Access Modification Program (AMP) process. Establish eligibility for appropriate funding sources such as Title VII, Part B or other AMP funding. Facilitate communication between consumers and vendors. Consult on project design/implementation. Assist with obtaining bids and verifying project completion. Submit accurate notes and reports within assigned times. Participate in Program driven outreach presentations and individualized outreach. Conduct other duties as assigned to increase choices for our consumers in their pursuit of independent living. Travel required Travel throughout the state is required. Time Management Strong Attention-to-Detail Discretion & Confidentiality Proficiency in Microsoft Office Physical/Mental demands. While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to sit, use a computer, a telephone, and other office equipment and to move throughout the building and attend meetings-in and out of the main office. Employees may occasionally need to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift carry, push or otherwise move objects (e.g., files or presentation materials). Required education and experience. Minimum of an associate degree in social services, education, or a related field with at least 2-3 years of related experience required. Preferred education and experience A bachelor's degree in social services, education, or a related field with at least 2 years of related experience preferred. Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate degree in social services, education, or a related field with at least 2-3 years of related experience required.

  • Ability to develop an appropriate professional relationship with program participants, community agencies and funding sources.
  • Contributes to the achievement of program and fiscal goals.

  • Developing innovative initiatives to enhance program services.
  • knowledge and experience circumventing the barriers to employment experienced by persons who are disenfranchised is required

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in social services, education, or a related field with at least 2 years of related experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred; two years college with two years related experience may be substituted

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating program services including intake, assessment, job seeking skills training, job development, placement and on-going support.
  • Marketing GSIL employment programs and services to businesses community agencies, schools, funding sources and participants.
  • Providing direct services as needed and assigned.
  • Providing all written reports and documents according to the required standards and timelines.
  • Maintaining the necessary paperwork.
  • Supervising and evaluating assigned staff including coordinating orientation, on-going training and keeping them informed on all pertinent information.
  • Following client rights procedures.
  • All necessary documentation on the appropriate platform and in the appropriate format.
  • Attending all meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned or needed to ensure the effective and efficient provision of program services.
