About The Position

The Income Tax Manager manages the tax planning and compliance activities of Gordon Food Service (GFS) and its related entities. Implements various tax and accounting strategies.

Requirements

  • Ten years previous tax accounting experience with two years previous supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • This position requires excellent supervisory skills and a strong motivation toward company, team, and individual results.
  • Allocates decision-making authority and task responsibilities to appropriate direct reports.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, looks for ways to promote to improve and promote quality.
  • Effectively expresses ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Must have knowledge of tax accounting, preparation, planning and cost accounting and analysis.
  • Must have a broad understanding of the industry and markets in which GFS operates and expertise in U.S. and Canadian tax law.

  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
  • Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • MST , MBA , MSA and JD preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs all tax-related projects and compliance reporting, including the preparation of local, state, and federal filings.
  • Oversight for all local, state, and federal audits.
  • Assists in due diligence activities for the acquisition of new business entities.
  • Assists with development of corporate restructuring plans.
  • Provides tax-related guidance for GFS US and Canadian related companies.
  • Develops capital and operational budget for the department.
  • Routinely monitors, manages and controls budget, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action and develops plans for productivity improvements.
  • Interviews, hires, train, and retain staff.
  • Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.
  • Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
