About the Role: This position requires the individual to have a permanent remote office based within a 4-hour drive or 2-hour flight to the Oxford Atlanta HQ, and the ability to travel as needed (approx. 10%). The Income Tax Accountant supports corporate income tax compliance and income tax accounting activities for multiple legal entities. The role is designed for an early-career professional and focuses on developing foundational knowledge of corporate taxation while working under the supervision of senior tax professionals.

Requirements

Strong organizational and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and meet filing and other critical deadlines
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Internship or up to two years of related accounting or tax experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Nice To Haves

Masters of Taxation preferred.
CPA preferred.
Experience with SAP preferred.
Experience with income tax compliance software preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists with the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision workpapers in accordance with GAAP.
Supports analysis of general ledger data to identify and calculate book-to-tax differences.
Maintains supporting schedules related to depreciation, inventory, compensation-related items, and other common tax adjustments.
Assists with preparation of income tax journal entries and account reconciliations.
Assists with organizing financial data and tax adjustments for federal and state income tax returns.
Supports preparation of state apportionment data and basic state tax calculations.
Enters data into income tax compliance software and assists with reconciling returns to provision amounts.
Assists with quarterly estimated federal and state income tax payment calculations and assisting with the execution and processing of federal and state estimated tax payments.
Helps gather documentation and information related to routine tax notices and audits.
Assists with reconciliation of fixed asset data for tax depreciation and reporting purposes.
Supports maintenance of tax depreciation schedules in coordination with the Tax Manager.
Maintains schedules summarizing monthly activity for the Oxford private foundation for use in preparing Form 990.
Assists with preparation of Form 990 and related extension and calculates required estimated payments
May prepare franchise, gross receipts, occupancy, and other returns.
May maintain schedules tracking research and resolution of items, handle due diligence requirements and prepare other returns as needed.
Conducts basic research on federal and state income tax issues and summarizes findings.
Participates in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
May help assist with indirect tax compliance activities, which may include preparing and filing sales and use tax returns, unclaimed property returns, New York City rent tax returns, property tax returns, and business license applications and renewals.
May help support data gathering, reconciliation, and documentation related to indirect tax filings under supervision.
Participates in special projects related to any of the above areas.
