About The Position

Ice-skating Tennis Nature Programs Sports Programs Special Events If this sounds like you, the Program Access Office of the Montgomery County Department of Parks is the place you want to be! The Program Access Office coordinates inclusion services for individuals with disabilities who are registered in parks and leisure programs; participates in community events and outreach opportunities and plans inclusive and specialized special events and programs. We are looking for dynamic support staff to serve our patrons and promote services and programs across Montgomery County. As an Inclusion Support Staff, you will be supporting Montgomery Parks programs and events by actively participating alongside participants, assisting with adaptations and modifications, and facilitating social interactions. Requirements

  • Must have a desire and interest in working with people with disabilities.
  • 18 years of age

  • Coursework or degree in a related field (Therapeutic Recreation, Education/Special Education, Behavioral Health, Vocational Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy)

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to individuals with disabilities to be included in general recreational programs with their peers.
  • Actively participates in all program activities, assists with adaptation of activities, and helps to facilitate social interactions.
  • Advocates for the full inclusion of participants with disabilities within the program.
  • Implements behavior management plans, assists in development of behavior management plans; and provides documentation as required.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors, program staff, and participants' families while enforcing program rules and adhering to policies, and procedures.
