About The Position

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. As part of the broader Business Finance Accounting team, the Ad Rewards Controllership team plays a key role in supporting Google's advertising sales incentives, working cross-functionally on key business initiatives that directly contribute to the success of Google's advertising products.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and revenue accounting (ASC 606) in a public accounting or multinational company setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee global accounting processes for advertising business growth, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and internal controls (i.e. contra-revenue, OpEx, Cost of Sales, accrued liabilities and deferred-revenue and the related balance sheet reconciliations).
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to define, implement, and scale accounting systems and operational procedures that mitigate financial risk.
  • Leverage SQL and data analytics to drive process improvements, automate workflows, and provide quantitative insights for business decision-making.
  • Provide accounting guidance to sales and product teams on business models, complex agreements, and the operational components of new product launches.
  • Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and present clear financial results to management.
