About The Position

The In-Room-Dining Server at Maybourne Beverly Hills Hotel provides food and beverage service to our in-room dining guests in a timely and professional manner while following the hotel's standards. Additionally, the In-Room Dining Server will manage and restock the minibars. As the In-Room Dining Server, you would be responsible for providing quality service when delivering food to guest rooms while creating a pleasant and warm interaction in the process. You will also maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required
  • Minimum of one-year experience in Food and Beverage; Preferably In-Room Dining
  • Minimum of one-year experience in customer service
  • Exceptional guest recovery skills
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest's service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

  • Proven ability to maintain good coordination and timing while serving orders quickly; ability to exert physical effort in transporting food and beverage to our guests
  • Language: Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred
  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcohol.
  • Must possess RBS ABC Certification & Food Handler's certification
  • Must be flexible and have open availability; holidays and weekends are not negotiable

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of ingredients and potential allergens for all menu items. Clearly communicate any allergies to Chef and Manager/Supervisor upon receiving guest order to ensure guest safety and minimize potential risk.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Present guest checks & maintain complete knowledge of POS.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of hours of operation, proper table set-up
  • Maintain basic knowledge about the hotel amenities and outlets, including all hours of operation.
  • Complete opening or closing side duties as assigned:
  • Fold napkins.
  • Requisition all necessary supplies
  • Set tables according to service standards
  • Set up all condiments (butter, jellies, syrups, juices) and beverages (non-alcoholic) according to service standards.
  • Check salt and pepper shakers and fill if necessary.
  • Ensure a sufficient supply of all silverware, glassware and chinaware for service. Supplies must be perfectly polished, without any water spots and blemishes.
  • Record order of guest following departmental service procedures.
  • Clearly communicate special menu requests and/or allergies to Chef and Manager/Supervisor and confirm details prior to placing order on POS.
  • Legibly document orders when system is down and distribute food orders to kitchen.
  • Retrieve all alcoholic beverage items from bar and serve to guest in accordance with the departmental standards.
  • Open and serve wine/champagne bottles in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Make all varieties of coffee in accordance with the departmental standards.
  • Acknowledge guest and anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and with a sense of urgency
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures, in order to comply with PCI.
  • Attend daily meetings with service team and management prior to start of shift.
  • Complete closing side duties:
  • Safely store all reusable goods.
  • Breakdown all goods as specified in departmental standards.
  • Clean all equipment as assigned in the side duties.
  • Restock items for next service.
  • Reset tables for next meal period.
  • Complete all closing reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor.
  • Exhibit a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with guests and fellow colleagues.
  • Maintain the inventory of minibar items, ensuring that it is adequately stocked and well presented in guest rooms.
  • Provide personalized and professional service to guests, assisting with their minibar selections, inquiries, and requests
  • Regularly check and restock minibars, ensuring that all items are fresh, organized, and in alignment with hotel standards.
  • Monitor the freshness and condition of minibar items, removing expired or damaged products promptly.
  • Accurately record and charge guests for minibar consumption, following established billing procedures.
  • Address guest inquiries and concerns regarding minibar charges or selections with the utmost professionalism and courtesy.
  • Maintain accurate records of minibar inventory levels and assist in the ordering and receiving of minibar supplies.
  • Implement strategies to minimize waste and maximize efficiency in minibar operations.
  • Ensure cleanliness/maintenance of the mini bar and the mini bar carts
  • Perform and execute all other duties as assigned by hotel management.
