About The Position

In the position of the In-Home Trauma Systems Therapist in the Nova Center for Youth and Family, you will provide intensive, home-based therapeutic services to children, adolescents and families impacted by trauma. You will work closely with clients and their family members to achieve maximum results using the Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) approach. This position will be working Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM. Requirements

  • Master's degree in a social sciences field
  • 2 years postmasters clinical experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License w/ required Personal Liability Insurance Automobile Insurance.
  • Excellent 5 year driving record & reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred minimum of one year working with seriously emotionally disturbed children (SED).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments, CANS, treatment plans, and make referrals as identified from the assessments.
  • Provide individual, family, or group trauma system therapy for clients up to three times per week for a maximum of one year.
  • Provide 24-hour availability to the clients in the program and community service organizations.
  • Assist clients in establishing & maintain a social support system/network within the community.
  • Complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner in accordance with the Center and/or DMH/MR standards.
  • Visit clients in their environment to assess progress towards goals, provide support & direction.
  • Advocate for the clients & assist client and family members in understanding the client’s diagnosis, traits, treatment approaches, etc.
  • Become aware & familiar with the client’s medications, possible side effects and conduct medication monitoring with client and family.
  • Perform crisis intervention and resolution as needed.
  • Participate in weekly Trauma Systems Therapy supervision.
  • Participate in in-services, required meetings & training as mandated by supervisor.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
