Supervise and ensure compliance with customs and foreign trade operations applicable to the company's import and export activities, guaranteeing the correct implementation of programs such as IMMEX, OEA, PROSEC, and VAT-IEPS certifications, as well as preventing legal and operational risks related to the handling of goods at the border. WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION: Regulatory Compliance: Supervise that import and export operations comply with the Customs Law, international treaties, non-tariff regulations, and tax standards. Ensure compliance with certifications, authorizations, and programs such as IMMEX, OEA, PROSEC, CIVA, among others. Verify the correct use of tariff classifications, origin of goods, and customs value. Analyze regulatory changes affecting operations and propose implementation alternatives. Risk Management: Implement risk management methodologies to identify and classify operational risks. Design security matrices and contingency plans for potential non-compliance or audits. Audit and Control: Conduct periodic internal and electronic audits of foreign trade operations. Detect omissions, inconsistencies, or customs and tax fraud. Compile electronic and physical files to present to authorities in case of inspections. Communication and Training: Coordinate communication between key departments (finance, logistics, legal, foreign trade). Train staff on customs compliance and prevention of bad practices. Design internal reporting channels and follow up on reports. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare periodic reports for management on compliance status. Document and report detected contingencies, proposing corrective and preventive actions. Team Management: Assign tasks to staff. Supervise performance and train the team on procedures and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in foreign Trade, International Business, Customs Law, or related field.
  • +5 years of experience in customs compliance in maquiladora or manufacturing company.
  • Experience in personnel management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Customs Law, General Rules of Foreign Trade, FTAs, and IMMEX, PROSEC, OEA, and CIVA programs.
  • Proficiency in systems such as VUCEM, SAT, among others.
  • Advanced English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Agency for Customs Compliance (OEA) internal auditor certification is desirable.
  • Risk analysis in VAT and OEA certifications.
  • Attention and follow-up to internal and external audits, with clients and suppliers.
