The Import & Export Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing international trade activities to ensure compliant, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods. This role ensures adherence to import/export regulations, accurate documentation, and effective coordination with internal teams, freight forwarders, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of import/export regulations and trade compliance requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems, trade compliance software, and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
Ability to sit for extended periods while working in an office environment.
Ability to occasionally walk to warehouse or operational areas as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in import/export, international logistics, or trade compliance roles.
Knowledge of Incoterms, HTS classification, and customs compliance required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in manufacturing, chemical, flavor, fragrance, or regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage import and export shipments in compliance with applicable international trade regulations.
Prepare, review, and maintain import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates, and customs filings.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs, FDA, USDA, TSA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Classify products using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and ensure accurate duty assessments.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely shipment execution.
Monitor shipment status and resolve delays, discrepancies, or compliance issues.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
Support export control compliance, including denied party screening and licensing requirements.
Collaborate with Customer Care, Purchasing, Regulatory, Quality, and Logistics teams to support international orders.
Assist with cost analysis related to freight, duties, and landed cost calculations.
Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on import/export processes.
Support internal audits, trade compliance reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
Support the company in achieving established compliance, service, and logistics performance goals.
Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
