Early Careers: Intern Impact Forecasting

Aon CorporationChicago, IL
7d$22 - $28

About The Position

In an increasingly risky world, (re)insurers need more sophisticated tools to quantify and manage the risks facing their businesses. Impact Forecasting develops models that help analyze the financial implications of catastrophic events so that our clients achieve a greater understanding of their risks. In turn, our clients are better able to quantify potential losses and develop more effective reinsurance programs. As part of a global reinsurance broker, Impact Forecasting has an in-depth knowledge of our clients’ requirements within the industry. We focus on the development of models for specific perils and territories where the commercial modeling companies have not yet ventured or existing models are not fully meeting our clients’ requirements. In these cases, we can partner with clients using their loss data to pursue a modeled result more reflective of their experience. At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed. This is a 10-week paid program across various U.S. offices with access to leaders through weekly learning sessions and a chance to interact with colleagues globally. You will engage in challenging client projects with the benefit of continuous formal and informal feedback and the enjoyment of social outings and community service activities throughout your internship! In this role, you’ll use Python to investigate a wide range of climate and hurricane datasets—from records of historical, pre-modern storms to modern (re)analyses—and turn them into insights that matter. You’ll help test and refine cutting‑edge wind‑field and Rmax parametrizations inside Aon’s ELEMENTS catastrophe modeling platform, directly shaping how tropical cyclone and climate risk are understood and managed across the (re)insurance industry.
