About The Position

The Washington Post is seeking a rigorous, ambitious and nimble journalist to join its immigration team, covering one of the most consequential and fast-moving policy areas in the country. This reporter will play a central role in chronicling the Trump administration’s immigration agenda — breaking news, producing accountability reporting and delivering clear, authoritative journalism that explains complex policies and their real-world impact. The beat spans enforcement, border security, legal immigration systems and the human consequences of policy decisions, requiring a reporter who can move seamlessly between scoops, analysis and enterprise. We are looking for a journalist with a deep understanding of U.S. immigration policy and a strong network of sources across key federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The ideal candidate thrives on competition, writes with clarity and authority under pressure and brings creative ideas for how to present stories that resonate with a broad audience. Immigration is a top coverage priority for The Post, and this reporter will join a dynamic, collaborative team based in Washington and across the country. This position is based in our Washington, D.C., newsroom.
