A nonexempt position responsible for performing MRI scans, CT scans and x-rays according to physician orders. The Imaging Technologist also ensures all imaging equipment is working properly and supplies ordered. Follows all state and federal guidelines related to imaging and employee/patient safety.

  • Prepares patients for imaging procedures by interviewing and screening patients.
  • Scans patients in a timely manner while giving excellent patient care.
  • Assists in maintaining required compliance records including patient records and daily logs.
  • Performs daily QA on machines and weekly ACR QA test.
  • Responsible for PACS quality control including scanning films, disks and paperwork into patient files; creating disks for patients and physicians.
  • Cleans, maintains and makes minor adjustments to imaging equipment. Communicates required equipment repairs to management.
  • Maintains department supplies and orders supplies as necessary in a cost effective manner.
  • Communicates with imaging scheduler daily regarding patient flow/schedules.
  • Restocks rooms and keeps imaging department clean and presentable.
  • Follows procedures and protocols for opening and closing the department.
  • Implements infection control procedures for work area.
  • Assists in implementing new procedures and protocols as needed.
  • Serves as a back-up to x-ray area when needed.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Associate’s degree in radiological technology from an accredited program.
  • Two years of MRI/CT is preferred.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • All current required state requirements and licenses with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS)
  • Knowledge of MRI and radiology procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform MRI and radiology testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of MRI and radiology equipment including safety hazards.
  • Skill in positioning patients properly.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying engineering technicians.
  • Skill in following infection control, Radiological safety procedures and MRI safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team based environment that places patient satisfaction as the primary focus for measuring success.
  • Ability to lift and position patients for the type of MRI procedure required.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and handle various priorities in a flexible, rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively articulate information and respond to questions.

  • MRI Certification preferred.
