Diagnostic Imaging at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix is busy, fast paced, and gives you the opportunity to do what you do best: Providing excellent care for patients. Technologists here use state of the art digital imaging equipment to perform over 350 exams per day. Our department supports Diagnostic Imaging services for Inpatients, Outpatients, and Patients in the Ortho/Spine Clinic and the Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic. We are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge of CT, MRI, or both, with a minimum of 2 years experience performing 3D post-processing on a variety of imaging studies. This role involves working closely with advanced medical imaging technologies to create high-quality 3D reconstructions for clinical and research purposes. This position operates 3D imaging workstations, managing the transfer of imaging data and manipulating digital medical images to support clinical visualization and analysis of diagnostic radiology studies. This role plays a critical role in enhancing patient care and research goals by providing essential support to our radiology department. Assists in the instruction of physicians and technologists in 3D lab applications.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in CT and/or MRI imaging
  • Hands-on experience with 3D post-processing workflows
  • Credentials must be ARRT
  • Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program or two-year degree.
  • Requires one of the following: National certification from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), modality qualified licensure including Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR equivalent knowledge in cross-sectional anatomy and digital image manipulation
  • Two or more years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience in cross-sectional imaging using computed tomography (CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is required.

  • Advanced training in anatomy as demonstrated by CT and MRI.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares diagnostic images for visualization and quantification and assists with quantitative measurements when indicated.
  • Operates 3D imaging workstations and their software operations for the preparation of imaging data.
  • Selects, extracts, reformats, and de-identifies images as needed.
  • Ensures the networked transfer of images to appropriate workstations and PACS systems.
  • Learns additional computer systems to manipulate digital medical images for clinical visualization and analysis.
  • Recognizes scan artifacts and abnormal anatomy/pathology that are important for 3D visualization.
  • Collaborates with radiologic technologists in CT and MRI to ensure the appropriateness of scanning protocols for 3D imaging.
  • Identifies and demonstrates pathology and normal anatomical variants in post-processed images.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and other clinicians to ensure the post-processed images have maximal clinical value.
  • Contributes to the design of new data acquisition protocols when appropriate.
  • Transfers 3D lab images onto hard copy at the request of physicians.
  • Learns about, and may participate in, the generation of surface mesh files for 3D printing and virtual/ augmented reality.
