The Imaging Education Specialist provides comprehensive training and education related to ultrasound imaging systems, including modality upgrades, new technologies, and technical advancements. Ensures clinical staff are proficient in equipment operation, workflow optimization, and best practices to support high-quality patient care. A caregiver in this position works days, 8:00am—5:00pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or a Registered Technologist (R.T.(R)(ARRT)) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing
  • Must be certified modality of specialization
  • Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment dependent on modality
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification
  • 5 years of recent modality experience with the ability to optimize equipment site specifications
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
  • Can communicate well with Radiologists, Physicians and Technologists.
  • Coordinates proper imaging of patient
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform clinical and research exams.
  • Produces images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
  • Maintain patient safety at all times.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to physicians, technologists, students, industry representatives, and regional imaging facilities.
  • Work with Education Coordinator to establish and coordinate educational training sessions, course syllabus and education credits.
  • Act as a specialty resource related to patient care, imaging, and technology.
  • Perform the development component, which includes but is not limited to data collection, recording, and analysis for Clinical and Research Imaging.
  • Works with Clinical and Research Departments to develop protocols which would promote the ability to publish.
  • Attend vendor-specific training sessions.
  • Take responsibility for patient/personal radiation safety.
  • May be required to rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities and/or other locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
