About The Position

Seeking imagery scientists to analyze multi-sensor imagery to identify objects, assess threats, track changes, and understand terrain/structures, process, curate, examine, and report on non-literal sensor data from both Active sensors (SAR) and Passive sensors (EO). This role will also assist in developing algorithms, GEOINT tradecraft, and tools. Additionally, this person will perform signature analysis and management. Deliverables will include Analysis Reports - Textual reporting with shape files, signatures, and graphics posted to intelligence networks; Data Deliverables - Shapefiles, KML files, scripts, and signature library files for internal and external customers; and Technical Imagery Science Reports - Technical documentation on sensor tools, new sensors, problematic data, anomalies, artifacts, and unusual phenomena.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance Requirements: Active TS to apply
  • On-site work is required at Wright-Patterson AFB in Beavercreek, OH
  • Bachelor’s degree in Imaging Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative science field.
  • Requires 4-7 years of GEOINT work experience
  • Experience in applied image processing and scientific analysis of imagery (SAR, IR, Spectral, Lidar), knowledge of image formation, and associated discipline phenomenology.
  • Working knowledge of Image Quality Equations (IQEs), including creation and application.
  • Creation of and development of algorithm assessments.
  • Techniques for the correction of system anomalies and artifacts.
  • Experience in scientifically processing imagery (SAR, IR, Spectral, Lidar) from Civil and Commercial imaging systems, proficiency with techniques, algorithms, and scientific analysis of associated discipline data processing using RSI ENVI

Responsibilities

  • Provide imagery scientist support through technical reviews, consultations, oversight of proposed and executed GEOINT product quality assessments and studies, and strategic-level product quality direction.
  • Prepare detailed intelligence reports and provide expert consultation on imagery-related issues.
  • Provide image science services in support of GEOINT product quality assessment planning, execution, and results analysis; imagery review, artifact analysis, NIIRS evaluations (absolute NIIRS, delta NIIRS, and ENS NIIRS evaluations), display performance assessments, etc.
  • Provide imagery science services and analysis in support of GEOINT product quality assessments for the full range of traditional and non-traditional imaging systems, products, and data formats; sensor fidelity assessment, pixel registration assessment, Tonal Transfer Curve assessments, Relative Edge Response assessment, MTF and Signal to Noise Ratio assessment, and other product quality parameters.
  • Evaluate sensor performance, image fidelity, registration, and other parameters to ensure GEOINT product quality.
  • Apply digital signal processing, photogrammetry, and advanced software to manipulate and interpret imagery.
  • Contribute to ground truth testing and signature libraries.
  • Create and validate algorithms for image processing, feature extraction, and information extraction from complex data.
  • Provide image processing algorithm validation and verification in support of GEOINT product quality assessments or ad hoc customer requests.
  • Support algorithm development in support of imagery science tasks and assessment of various product quality parameters.
  • Provide expert/ photogrammetric services and engineering in support of the full range of traditional and non-traditional imaging systems and products; assessment of product geolocation accuracy using verified geolocation of a known features, verifying mensuration accuracy through measurement of known objects, calculating ground sample distance, and other photogrammetric analyses as directed.
  • Develop models for new imaging systems or to simulate scenarios.
