Responsible for the coordination, maintenance and distribution of patient images and reports in Diagnostic Imaging. Accesses diagnostic images in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree specializing in Medical Transcription preferred.
  • Previous clerical experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Certified Medical Transcriptionist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures appropriate management of all images in Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Digitizes images, burns CDs, transfers images, and maintains diagnostic images in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the operational requirements pertaining to all equipment utilized for efficient electronic image management of patient data.
  • Retrieves and provides images to requesting staff and physicians, ensuring all requests for images are within the prescribed timeframe to assure compliance with legal requests. Images provided via CD, mail, or sent through Image Connect.
  • Call the referring providers’ offices with significant/incidental findings.
  • Ensures compliance with Diagnostic Imaging and Medical Records procedures for releasing patient information.
  • Reviews appropriate patient data requests and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Responsible for accurate completion of all patient information merges and purges.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of medical record retention as it relates to Diagnostic Imaging studies.
  • Order equipment and supplies used in Imaging Library under the direction of Supervisor
