About The Position

The Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible future adjunct credit teaching positions in our Illustration Department. Positions will be filled on an as-needed basis. Courses offered utilize both digital and traditional mediums, and include levels from foundation to seniors. Applicants should be familiar with multiple markets of contemporary illustration such as publishing, editorial, visual development, animation, comics, surface design, and entrepreneurial illustration.

Requirements

  • Have earned a BFA in Illustration or related field
  • Demonstrated professional experience in contemporary professional illustration such as publishing, surface design, comics, animation, visual development, editorial, or entrepreneurial illustration
  • Demonstrated proficiency in traditional and digital drawing and painting skills
  • Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to expand the professional network of the Illustration program and foster relationships with industry professionals relevant to the needs and interests of our students

Responsibilities

  • teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the Department Chair
  • helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content
  • assessing student learning outcomes
  • maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field
  • continuing professional development
  • utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties
  • maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position
  • fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of an adjunct faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook
