About The Position

Serves as the Illinois Juvenile Justice Manager. Serves as the primary liaison to the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the Lead staff for the Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission (IJJC). Develops and implements program strategies and plans related to juvenile justice, public safety and delinquency prevention and accountability activities. Ensures Juvenile Justice Program (JJP) grants and contracts are developed, processed, obligated and paid. Serves as full-line supervisor. Manages process responses to JJP failures, adjustments or other extraordinary circumstances affecting juvenile justice grants.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in a social or human services field.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience working with or in a juvenile justice system.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of professional experience working with or in the juvenile justice system.
  • Four (4) years of professional experience developing and implementing program strategies and plans related to juvenile justice, public safety, delinquency prevention, diversion and accountability activities.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience staffing/managing a Board or Commission to facilitate their mission and values.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience developing and implementing multi-provider state and/or federal grant programs ensuring compliance with 2CFR200 requirements (GATA).
  • Three (3) years of professional experience applying for, implementing and managing federal grant awards.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working with state and local facilities and organizations to ensure compliance with the core protections of the Federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA).

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Illinois Juvenile Justice Manager.
  • Serves as the primary liaison to the Federal OJJDP and the Lead staff for the IJJC.
  • Develops and implements program strategies and plans related to juvenile justice, public safety and delinquency prevention, diversion, and accountability activities.
  • Ensures JJP grants and contracts are developed, processed, obligated and paid.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Manages process responses to JJP failures, adjustments or other extraordinary circumstances affecting juvenile justice grants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
