About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Scrub Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team. This role is responsible for maintaining a sterile field, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and ensuring surgical instruments and supplies are available, sterile, and functioning properly. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong communication, and teamwork skills, while maintaining the highest standards of surgical care and patient safety.

Requirements

  • For Scrub Tech: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • For Scrub Tech: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
  • For Scrub Tech: Previous OR experience preferred.
  • For Scrub LPN: Current LPN license in the state of Illinois.
  • For Scrub LPN: Completion of an accredited LPN program.
  • For Scrub LPN: Minimum of 1 year surgical experience preferred.
  • For Scrub LPN: BLS certification required.
  • For Scrub RN: Current RN license in the state of Illinois.
  • For Scrub RN: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN).
  • For Scrub RN: At least 1 year of experience in the operating room preferred.
  • For Scrub RN: BLS and ACLS certification required (or within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready and sterile.
  • Scrub in and assist surgeons during operative procedures by passing instruments, sponges, sutures, and other supplies.
  • Maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to prevent retained surgical items.
  • Handle surgical specimens properly and accurately.
  • Assist with patient positioning and prepping as needed.
  • Monitor and report changes in the patient's condition to the RN or surgeon.
  • Clean and restock operating rooms following procedures.
  • Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
  • Document intraoperative care accurately (for LPN/RN roles).
  • Collaborate with perioperative team members to ensure smooth workflow.
