We are looking for Portfolio Project Instructors to join our instruction team. AI4ALL Ignite is a national accelerator that equips college students with the tools to land their first AI/ML internship. This program consists of a Portfolio Project component and a Career Readiness component, although the Portfolio Project Instructor will only be responsible for the Portfolio Project. In the Portfolio Project, students will acquire practical experience in the various stages of AI solution development, encompassing data exploration, preparation, model training, testing, deployment, and the consideration of responsible AI practices. The Portfolio Project will culminate with a Student Symposium where students will showcase their achievements. Portfolio Project Instructors will be provided with all the necessary course resources, including assignments, rubrics, readings, and lecture slides. This part-time position involves approximately 16-20 hours per week and runs for 13 weeks in the summer. This role is a remote position and therefore will require the Portfolio Project Instructor to respond to electronic communication from various stakeholders (students, colleagues, manager, etc.) in a timely manner within reason, including weekends. The Portfolio Project Instructor will report to the Curriculum & Instruction Manager.

  • Communicate weekly with AI Project Leads to identify student needs and coordinate timely outreach
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive virtual classroom environment where all students feel seen and encouraged
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in professional development (PD) activities including Portfolio Project Instructor Onboarding sessions and 3-4 training workshops throughout the semester (dates and times will be communicated to the Portfolio Project Instructor in advance)
  • Participate in biweekly debriefing sessions with the Lead Portfolio Project Instructors
  • Manage your Portfolio Project Student Coordinator and AI Project Leads to ensure all class logistics are completed and to support their growth
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in Computer Science, AI, ML, programming (Python), Computer Engineering, or a related discipline

  • A strong commitment to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in artificial intelligence
  • An understanding of university culture and the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing programs for college students
  • A propensity for reliable and timely communication via email and messaging platforms like Slack and Discord
  • Must be available to teach two 2-hour classes per week
  • Are passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in artificial intelligence
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; adaptability is key
  • Have experience working with populations who have been historically excluded from the AI sector
  • Have experience applying active learning methodologies in an online environment/classroom
  • Work both independently and collaboratively
  • The pay rate is $42 per hour for approximately 16 hours per week (preparing for and teaching 2 classes) for a total duration of 13 weeks; instructing a third class adds 4 hours per week for approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Monthly check-ins and professional development offered by AI4ALL will be compensated according to the hourly rate and typically last 1.25 hours.
  • A commitment to developing leaders from within the organization.
  • An organizational culture and work-life balance that supports staff well-being.
