Requirements

  • Must be at least 14 years of age on the date of applying
  • Must be able to speak and read the English language
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work for your scheduled shift
  • Must work well with other team members and be able to interact with our guests in a fast-paced environment
  • Theatrical Flair: The ability to animate characters with flair, infusing them with personality and charm
  • Adaptability: Comfort in rotating between different Story Book characters, each with its unique traits and tales
  • Immersive Creativity: A talent for creating immersive experiences that transport guests into the heart of their favorite stories
  • Must display a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and professional image in compliance with Idlewild and SoakZone guidelines
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work at least one (1) weekend day (Saturday/Sunday) per week throughout the operational season
  • Must be able to work at least three (3) days per week and at least 24 hours per week from June through August (Shifts are available starting in May and continue through October.)
  • Team Members are subject to a variety of weather conditions, including but not limited to: extreme heat, humidity, sun exposure, cold, and inclement weather.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to stand (for up to five hours at a time), walk long distances within the park, bend at the waist and knees and have repeated manual dexterity; the ability to carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance on a regular basis; and the ability to regularly reach above shoulder level

  • Greet all guests with a friendly smile and positive attitude!
  • Engage with guests of all ages in a fun and entertaining way!
  • Smile and communicate with fellow team members
  • Step into the shoes (or slippers!) of classic storybook characters, embodying their essence and bringing their tales to life
  • Engage with visitors through interactive encounters and whimsical performances, captivating them with the magic of well-loved narratives
  • Pose for photos with visitors, creating memorable keepsakes that capture the magic of their Story Book Forest adventure.
  • Showcase your creativity by infusing your character with personality, ensuring each appearance is a unique and captivating experience
  • Ensure our guests are top priority
  • Perform both indoors and outside (hot/humid conditions) in full costume
  • Treat each costume with the utmost respect and care, recognizing them as essential components of Story Book's enchanting identity
  • Conduct thorough post-performance inspections, identifying any wear, tear, or necessary repairs promptly
  • Report needed repairs to your supervisor promptly, ensuring a swift resolution
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Communicate any issues to supervisor or manager
  • Responsible to adhere to all applicable labor regulations and guidelines, including scheduled start and end time, break schedule and consecutive days worked
  • Support our park through other duties as assigned by your manager
